Later, in the trailer revealed at the Game Awards, Sonic (and the viewers) heard a ghostly voice talking to him. At one point, one of the leaks mentioned a Ghost Girl that would accompany Sonic on his journey. First she was communicating to him from this world in a strange voice and now she was addressing Eggman vaguely as ‘the doctor’ and implied she was choosing a hero to ensure the salvation of Starfall and the rest of the world? The hedgehog had little time to regard this world, especially when Amy’s voice spoke to him again. Sonic slowed his speed and came to a stop, standing upon what seemed to be a very solid and tangible platform that felt tangible underneath his feet. Now he’d entered Cyberspace, a nearly digital-looking realm with vibrant textures flashing between purple and violet with hints of blue. More digital symbols were swirling around him, the whole world shifting and changing with each fast step Sonic was taking. He was racing through a void of bright light, running at the speed of sound as if he’d just broken the sound barrier.
Sonic boosted through the woodland as glowing pink-colored ghostly digital symbols followed and surrounded his being, he raced in a circle around a pair of trees and then everything was aglow as the whole woodland vanished around Sonic. Feeling a rush of energy coursing through him, he concentrated hard on what he was trying to do and accelerated his speed up to near maximum.
